In this first edition of BBC News Lies, we are looking at the BBC’s approach to reporting on the wavering support for funding the war in Ukraine.
The BBC, as an arm of the elite ideological orthodoxy, has always been fervent in its support for more missiles to be sent to Ukraine, so they can be used to blow up trucks filled with 19 year old Russian conscripts. The BBC, in its firm pro-war commitment, has never engaged any debate in good faith around what funding more war is doing for our continent. They’re also yet to really discuss what led up to the war, what NATO did to provoke Russia, what this bizarre Hunter Biden oil company connection could be, what the history of that region is, what the CIA were doing to create the 2014 ousting of the democratically elected leader, why Boris Johnson torpedoed an attempt at peace talks relatively early in the war, or really anything of substance at all. They only talk about one thing; getting more weapons to kill more Russian kids to prolong a war against Putin. You know, Putin, the leader of Russia? A country with nearly 6,000 individual city-flattening nuclear warheads, and ICBMs that can deliver 10 nuclear warheads at a time to different cities anywhere in the world in a matter of 30 minutes, incinerating hundreds of millions of people and poisoning the ground for thousands of years. Weapons systems that will not be stopped once launched, not by any countermeasure in existence. You’d be lucky to get 10 minutes warning time, and you’d be lucky to get a quick death. And all of this over who gets to administer 2 small regions with about 0.075% of the world’s population in some region hundreds of miles away.
As the war begins to creep into Russia via American humvees and UAV strikes, it’s just worth keeping in mind that Russia has 6,000 nuclear warheads. Remember that when you think the West can “win” a war with Russia.
Most scandalously, there isn’t even a single article in the BBC that talks about how the United States blew up Nord Stream 2. The United States committed one of the most economically damaging attacks on Europe in recent history, matched only by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and there’s total silence from our most trusted news source. Not a single one mentions how Seymour Hersh, a phenomenally well-respected and historied journalist, exposed how the Americans and the Norwegians collaborated to blow up Nord Stream 2. Actually there is one, from months before the pipeline was destroyed, talking about another one of Biden’s media gaffs where he accidentally told the press he promised he would “end” the pipeline. €11,000,000,000.00 (eleven billion euros) literally went up in smoke at the hands of our closest allies, instantly making every single European family significantly poorer for generations to come. And there is SILENCE! Deafening, ear-splitting SILENCE!!!
Link to article: BBC News Article: "A Shadow of 'Ukrainian fatigue' hangs over Polish politics", by Sarah Rainsford
This article I am reviewing is a perfect example of the war-drum beating BBCs attempt at portraying any and all dissent to the pro-war orthodoxy as negative. Beginning with;
“From the beginning of Russia's full-on invasion, Warsaw has been a firm supporter of Kyiv.
It's often led the way in sending military aid and equipment, and argued passionately that this support is essential to protect Poland itself from Russian aggression.
The change of tone from the Polish government on Ukraine is startling.
Now suddenly it feels like the political knives are out for Kyiv.”
That’s an interesting last line there. Sarah Rainsford is comparing the pulling back of support not only as it is, but in fact comparing the rhetoric to putting a knife into the back of Kyiv. Metaphorically comparing Poland to Russia in this regard. The article has completely thrown out any reasonable defence or argument for Poland pulling back from providing more weapons. The article is deeply critical of the viewpoint some Polish citizens have that maybe they don’t want to keep spending taxpayer money on killing Russians and sacrificing Ukrainians. The author is quick to praise support, and totally denigrate dissent, all within the first few sentences. There is a defence, and a fair defence, of being pro-war in the second sentence, claiming that the support for the war protects Poland. But instantly in the same introduction, smashes away all anti-war sentiment by comparing it to putting a knife into Kyiv. This bipolar approach is stark throughout all BBC reporting on the war.
“But there was no misinterpreting the Polish President's words. Andrzej Duda compared Ukraine to a drowning man who risks dragging his rescuers down with him.
Moscow seized upon that comment with glee.
The sharp downturn in relations between the neighbouring countries began with a dispute over grain imports that remains unresolved.”
“Moscow seized upon that comment with glee” is an ethically bankrupt way to address a very fair perspective espoused (not necessarily held) by Polish President Andrzej Duda. Immediately, all belief in this accurate perspective is crushed as a pro-Russian, traitorous slur against the bastion of freedom and uncorrupt democracy that is Ukraine. The article also implies that this has so much to do with a grain deal, despite the fact that on its own, the issue of sending tens of billions of Polish zlotys to incinerate young Russian conscripts is more than enough to warrant discussion. The grain could have never existed; there would still be this grassroots dissent from ordinary people across Poland. This is that incredible doublespeak that the snakes in government approved mainstream media have always been good at.
The article goes on to pretend that wavering support for prolonging a costly and murderous war is something exclusive to right wing extremists;
“PiS is trying to coax voters from the far-right Konfederacja party, which is currently polling at close to 10% support.
This week, Konfederacja members picketed the Ukrainian embassy in Warsaw and held up a mock invoice for Poland's support. Konfederacja proclaimed the total cost of helping Kyiv to be over 100bn zloty (£18.79bn, $23.1bn) and wrote: "Paid: zero. Gratitude: none.""
We see some fascinating wordplay here, implying that the incumbent party isn’t itself beginning to have some reservations about its own support, but in fact, they’re just trying to “coax voters from the far-right Konfederacja party”. In a single brilliant sentence, they’ve dismissed any notion that reasonable middle-ground voters might have some reservations about prolonging war, and at the same time foisting this belief onto a political leaning that the BBC accepts as contemptible. This is government boot-licking journalism at its best.
The article presses home this lie that war dissent is the bastion of those stupid and uneducated rural people;
“There appear to be efforts on both sides to prevent the war of words from escalating into a full-blown crisis.
And whilst PiS pursues the rural, conservative vote, support for Ukraine here in Warsaw remains strong.”
We can see the Westminster bubble cracking through here; it’s a Chaucerian fraud of the highest order. The sheltered, privileged, educated, metropolitan elite of the United Kingdom, showing great support for the sheltered, privileged, educated, metropolitan elite of Warsaw, and condemning the uneducated, conservative, rural people for their anti-war stance.
A certain phrase has been used multiple times in the article, and throughout the BBCs reporting of the conflict; “Ukraine fatigue”. There couldn’t be a more one-sided way to phrase the reasonable dissent that reasonable people have across the West. It completely dismisses all anti-war sentiment as if people are just bored of it, and that it could have nothing to do with people realising that there’s a lot more to this than what the globalist mainstream orthodoxy media is telling us, and that maybe we’re not the “good guys” that we like to think we are.
Do not let the government lie to you like this. Do not let their pawns dictate what language is used to describe this situation. They are lying to you, they are obfuscating the truth, they are hiding the facts, and they misinform you every single day about absolutely everything.
